Mayor de Blasio tapped a veteran retirement-benefits adviser from the Service Employees International Union to head his pension office and coordinate with advisers for the city’s $159-billion funds.
John Adler will become the Director of the Mayor’s Office of Pensions and Investments and its Chief Investment Adviser. He will guide Mr. de Blasio’s trustees on the five pension funds and the Deferred Compensation Plan Board.
