Losers in TWU Local 100 Election Claim Cheating, Vote-Suppression

Representatives from the two losing slates in the Transport Workers Union Local 100 election are alleging that President Tony Utano’s victory in early December was tainted by cheating and voter suppression that resulted in fewer than 1-in-3 eligible members casting a ballot.

Mr. Utano garnered 7,362 votes (64.17 percent), with Joe Campbell coming in second with 2,284 (19.91 percent) followed by Tramell Thompson, who got 1,826 (15.92 percent). Roughly 29 percent of the union’s 40,000 members voted.
