Social Services Employees Union Local 371 of District Council 37 last week brought a sizable delegation to court in support of a Juvenile Counselor at the Administration for Children’s Services who was arrested for allegedly choking a minor at the Horizon Juvenile Center in The Bronx.
The boy alleged that on Nov. 8, Rafael Pasols “grabbed him around the neck with both hands and squeezed, causing him difficulty breathing, then grabbed him by his hair and pulled him to the floor...then struck him twice about his face with closed fists,” according to the criminal complaint issued by the Bronx District Attorney’s Office. He then “suffered a seizure and stupor, and substantial pain to his face and neck area, as well as experienced annoyance, alarm and fear for his physical safety.” He was taken to a hospital.
