For the first time in more than four years, the U.S. Postal Service reported a profit last quarter.
Driven by interest-rate changes, a temporary hike in postal rates, and a record number of holiday packages, the $307-million net income in the first three months of Fiscal Year 2016 was cheered by unions—and more tepidly by postal officials.
