Judge Vetoes Deal With Prosecutor To Remedy Housing Authority Woes

A Federal Judge Nov. 14 rejected as inadequate the consent decree that would have placed the Housing Authority under the watch of a Federal monitor and required the city to spend at least $2 billion on public housing over the next five years.

U.S. District Judge William Pauley determined that the consent decree proposed by the Manhattan U.S. Attorney’s office and the de Blasio administration in June in order to end the investigation of NYCHA’s non-compliance with lead-paint laws was too vague to bring about meaningful change.
