Judge Rules de Blasio Can Purge IDNYC Data

Mayor de Blasio can keep his pledge to purge the personal data collected by the city as part of its popular municipal-ID-card program, a State Supreme Court Justice has ruled.

The IDNYC program was introduced in 2014 as a way for the city’s estimated 500,000 residents who are living here illegally to be able to interact with municipal agencies like schools and hospitals, conduct business in the commercial sector, as well as offer a legal ID when asked for one by the NYPD.
