An American Federation of State County and Municipal Employees judicial panel this week will hear charges that the former head of District Council 37 Local 372 overpaid himself, former staffers and officers roughly $600,000.
According to a list of seven charges against former President Santos Crespo and eight others, the ex-employees received undue salary increases and money in vacation time, sick leave, comp days and floating holidays. Mr. Crespo led the 23,000-member local for 31/2 years before he was unseated last summer by Shaun Francois in a run-off election.
