Halloran Scheme To Hijack GOP Mayoral Line Gets 10 Years

Former City Councilman Dan Halloran, a Republican, was sentenced March 4 to 10 years in Federal prison for scheming with former State Sen. Malcolm Smith, a lifelong Democrat, to get Mr. Smith on the GOP ballot for Mayor in 2013 by bribing city GOP leaders.

β€œFor five days, he lied on the stand,” U.S. District Judge Kenneth Karas said of Mr. Halloran when passing sentence in White Plains. β€œ...There was overwhelming evidence of his guilt...He lied and lied repeatedly. It was grotesque and offensive.”
