Former City Councilman Dan Halloran, a Republican, was sentenced March 4 to 10 years in Federal prison for scheming with former State Sen. Malcolm Smith, a lifelong Democrat, to get Mr. Smith on the GOP ballot for Mayor in 2013 by bribing city GOP leaders.
βFor five days, he lied on the stand,β U.S. District Judge Kenneth Karas said of Mr. Halloran when passing sentence in White Plains. β...There was overwhelming evidence of his guilt...He lied and lied repeatedly. It was grotesque and offensive.β
