NYC Health + Hospitals' decision to more-aggressively challenge health-insurance companies’ rejections of patient claims and better billing resulted in its closing its fiscal year June 30 $150 million ahead of projections for patient-generated revenue, according to Dr. Mitchell Katz, the system’s CEO and President.
The results were discussed at the H+H’s Board of Directors monthly meeting Sept. 20. In the last fiscal year, the system brought in $2.65 billion through in-patient-care revenue while out-patient care, which includes emergency-room services, generated $3.48 billion.
