On April 18, the friends and families of 187 Probationary Firefighters packed the Christian Cultural Center in Brooklyn to celebrate their graduation from the Fire Academy's rigorous 18-week training. This class continued the department's commitment to diversity and included five women, with 34 percent of the graduates people of color: 11 percent black, 17 percent Latino, and 5 percent Asian.
