Ex-Mayor Michael Bloomberg has given $20 million to the main Democratic U.S. Senate super-PAC in an attempt to swing control of the upper house of Congress to the party.
A longtime Bloomberg political adviser and former City Hall aide, Kevin Sheekey—once dubbed the “Deputy Mayor for Future Ambitions” by then-Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver—told the Washington Post that the infusion of cash, which came on top of $80 million he had already committed to helping Democrats gain a majority in the House of Representatives, reflected his unhappiness with top GOP Senators’ handling of Judge Brett Kavanaugh’s Supreme Court confirmation hearing the previous week before the Senate Judiciary Committee.
