Governor Cuomo’s failure to live up to his 2010 campaign promise to change the corrupt culture infecting Albany has begun to catch up to him, judging by a Siena College poll released May 26 showing his job-approval rating at just 41 percent. That was a three-percentage-point drop from an April survey and was down eight points from his standing a year ago.
Driving that plunge, according to Siena pollster Steven Greenberg, have been the indictments this year of Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver and Senate Majority Leader Dean Skelos, which has flipped the script from what the Governor described shortly before the Silver charges as their joining him as “The Three Amigos” to their now being “Bad Company.”
