President Trump’s flair for the petty showed itself once again Aug. 13 during a ceremony at upstate Fort Drum when he signed into law a $716-billion military spending bill without mentioning the name of the person for whom it was named, U.S. Sen. John McCain.
He called it “the most significant investment in our military and our war fighters in modern history,” but said nothing about Mr. McCain’s work in getting it passed, or the tribute the Arizona Senator’s colleagues in Congress paid in attaching his name to it at a time when he is seriously ill with brain cancer.
