One of the best periods for Police Officer Peter Liang in his trial for the fatal shooting of Akai Gurley in a housing-project stairwell 15 months ago involved the cross-examination of his former partner, Shaun Landau, by defense attorney Robert Brown.
Mr. Brown is a former NYPD Captain, and his knowledge of the department’s workings and procedures shined through in his questioning of Officer Landau about the CPR and first-aid training rookie officers receive, as well as in his previous cross-examinations of two top Police Academy instructors.
