The Supreme Court’s June 27 ruling that public-employee unions can no longer collect agency-fee payments from nonmembers has “fired up” the labor movement, according to District Council 37’s Executive Director Henry Garrido.
“To those who believe this is a death-knell to unions, let me tell you this: You’ve awakened a sleeping giant,” he said at a City Hall rally hours after the decision was issued.
