Chicel Defran said the harassment started slowly. After she was elected chair of Transport Workers Union Local 100’s Westchester bus division, she said, her new boss, John Day, began finding excuses to spend extra time with her.
He repeatedly visited her Yonkers office for no apparent reason, she said, and instructed her to meet him at endless job sites unnecessarily.
