The former head of the FDNY’s Equal Employment Opportunity office was herself fired because she is black, she has charged in a $1.2-million lawsuit against the city.
Lyndelle Phillips, who served as Assistant Commissioner of EEO during the U.S. Justice Department’s 2007 hiring-discrimination suit against the FDNY, filed her complaint April 2, and is also suing former Fire Commissioner Salvatore Cassano and ex-First Deputy Commissioner Daniel Shacktai. She’s also charging retaliation for complaining to a consultant about discrimination in the FDNY.
