A Brooklyn man whose conviction was the work of a discredited Detective was released from prison after 23 years by a judge who said of the officer’s legendary talent for making homicide arrests, “There’s a saying, when it’s too good to be true, it probably is.”
Rosean S. Hargrave, now 40, was sentenced at the age of 17 to 30 years to life for the murder of an off-duty Correction Officer, Ronald Neischer. Mr. Neischer and a colleague, Robert E. Crosson, were sitting in a parked car when two men approached on bicycles and told them to get out of the car. A gun battle followed.
