A former NYPD officer was sentenced Feb. 19 to 28 months in prison for providing a cooperating witness with names and driver’s licenses of other people—including a fellow cop—to be used for fraudulent purposes, the office of U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara announced.
John L. Montanez, 28, of The Bronx, pleaded guilty last August to one count of access-device fraud and one count of aggravated identity theft. He was also fined $2,500 and will serve two years of supervised release after he gets out of prison.
