EMS Unions: Worked ‘Sandy’ Shorthanded To Save on Overtime

During Superstorm Sandy, the Emergency Medical Service failed to beef up staffing, repeatedly turned down employees who wanted to work on their days off, and failed to evacuate stations in the flood zones, inhibiting operations and endangering lives, EMS union leaders claimed last week.
