The Department of Education is taking steps to fire a Brooklyn Principal for fixing grades to prop up the graduation rate at the struggling school.
A report by the agency’s Office of Special Investigations, completed June 30 and released last week, substantiated claims that John Dewey High School Principal Kathleen Elvin created programs that didn’t meet standards for credit recovery. As far back as April 2014, witnesses complained that during that school year, some students got credits toward graduation just for coming to class.
