DOE Resource Centers Available to Assist Schools, Needy Pupils

Seven borough-based resource centers were up and running last week, Schools Chancellor Carmen Fariña said July 7.

The “Strong Schools, Strong Communities” model replaced 55 “Children First Networks” created under former Mayor Michael Bloomberg, which consisted of about 25 schools each and were aligned by areas of expertise and education philosophies. The Department of Education said the Borough Field Support Centers—opened in every borough with two each in Brooklyn and Queens—will allow schools to more easily access hands-on support.
