The latest NYPD promotions, held Aug. 30, saw four officers and 10 civilians promoted to high-level positions. Seventy officers were promoted to Lieutenant, Lieutenant Special Assignment or Lieutenant Commander Detective Squad, and 55 additional civilians were upgraded as well.
Emanuel J. Katranakis, commander of the Detective Bureau’s Forensic Investigation Division, is now a Deputy Chief. He joined the NYPD in July 1989. Over the years, he has been instrumental in solving crimes including the murders of Det. Randolph Holder in October 2015, Det. Brian Moore in May 2015 and an 8-year-old boy in Brooklyn in June 2014.
