The Sergeants Benevolent Association last week released its seventh and eighth videos defending a member indicted for fatally shooting a mentally-disturbed woman swinging a baseball bat at him, with crickets chirping in front of Police Headquarters to underscore the department’s silence on senior officers who were judged too drunk to fly to Afghanistan.
“As you know, on Oct. 17, 2016, Commissioner O’Neill spoke about accountability when defending his decision to condemn and modify Sgt. Hugh Barry before an investigation into the shooting death of Deborah Danner was complete,” SBA President Edward D. Mullins said in a message to members.
