After increasing for two months in a row, homicides fell in July to the lowest number since the CompStat crime-analysis system was instituted in 1994, Mayor de Blasio and Police Commissioner James P. O’Neill announced Aug. 2.
There were just 24 murders, down from 38 in July 2017. Last month tied with July 2013.
