Day-care Teachers represented by District Council 1707, who have been fighting for parity with Teachers who work at the Department of Education for decades, called off a strike that was set for May 2 after the city and the union agreed to meet this week.
The union represents almost 8,000 educators who work at community-based day care centers. More than 60 percent of 3- and 4-year-olds in Mayor de Blasio’s signature universal 3K and pre-K programs attend community-based preschools.
