As Loretta E. Lynch took the oath to become U.S. Attorney General April 27 on a family Bible held by her husband and father, her former top assistant assumed her old post as U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of New York.
Kelly T. Currie, 51, took the job in an acting capacity. He will hold it until President Obama appoints a replacement who is confirmed by the U.S. Senate. He is a potential candidate for the permanent post.
