The Cuomo administration is deleting the e-mails of state employees that are more than 90 days old, a practice that has raised questions from advocates of government transparency as well as legal issues.
“My belief is the nature of the communication and its significance should determine how long it should be kept, and there likely should not be an arbitrary dividing line between retention and disposal,” said Robert Freeman, Executive Director of the Committee on Open Government, which is part of the Department of State.
