CSA Will Sue DOE On Delays in Making Supervisor Choices

Long waits for the Department of Education to approve Principal and Assistant Principal appointments are illegal, the Council of School Supervisors and Administrators charged as it prepared to sue over the delays.

The CSA, which represents 6,100 members, is arguing that the DOE hasn’t complied with the state education law that limits the appointment process for prospective school leaders to six months. It notified the city May 1 of its intention to bring a lawsuit in State Supreme Court, which its general counsel, David Grandwetter, said would be filed “imminently.”
