Council Presses Mayor on Pay-Disparity Data

Under a package of bills approved overwhelmingly by the City Council, the city’s own track record for hiring and promoting women and people of color would come under increased public scrutiny and internal monitoring.

This push by Speaker Corey Johnson comes as the de Blasio administration is dealing with three separate class-action lawsuits where it is alleged the city has for decades engaged in systemic employment discrimination against women and people of color.
