City Joins With Other Localities in Suit To Preserve Obamacare

Even as President Trump cast new doubts on his readiness to produce a substitute for the Affordable Care Act if his attempt to abolish it through a lawsuit succeeds, New York City April 2 joined dozens of other cities, counties and towns in seeking intervener status opposing that suit.

The night before—a week after he directed the Justice Department to pursue a case brought in Texas where a Federal Judge had ruled the entire ACA to be unconstitutional—Mr. Trump, after previously saying he was prepared to deliver a superior alternative offering better care at a cheaper cost, stated over several tweets that he would do so, but not until “after the [2020] Election when Republicans hold the Senate & win back the House.”
