The handling of the recent loss of heat and electricity for several days at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn is being investigated by the U.S. Department of Justice’s Inspector General, according to a statement from the agency.
On Feb. 2, the New York Times reported that dozens of prisoners told their public defenders the Federal facility lacked heat, hot water, and electricity after an electrical panel blew last month, followed by a Jan. 27 electrical fire.
