The District Attorneys of The Bronx and Staten Island questioned the Office of Chief Medical Examiner’s decision to stop performing autopsies in their boroughs.
But an OCME spokeswoman said that the agency will continue to have offices in each county that family members can visit to identify loved ones. Identification will be accomplished by showing pictures on a computer screen, “which is how it is done these days.”
