The NYPD is ending the Operation Impact program started during the Bloomberg administration to deal with the loss of thousands of police officers and later caught up in the stop-and-frisk controversy, Police Commissioner William J. Bratton has announced.
“We are effectively significantly changing the way we’ve policed the city for the last 12 to 15 years,” he said at a news conference earlier this month.
