Responding to a proposal April 23 by the City Council to hire an additional 1,000 cops, Police Commissioner William J. Bratton said that he believes that if more money is provided it should go to pay increases for current NYPD officers.
“Being quite frank with you, the issue of pay raises for my personnel, I’m more supportive of that at the moment than I am additional officers,” he said not long after Council Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito announced proposed revisions to Mayor de Blasio’s preliminary budget for the 2015 fiscal year.
