Even as the NYPD mourned a top commander who killed himself after being questioned in the probe concerning cops—most of them high-ranking—trading favors in return for gifts from two Orthodox Jewish businessman, Police Commissioner William J. Bratton said May 19 that some officers are likely to be criminally charged by the U.S. Attorney in Manhattan.
Appearing on AM-970, the Commissioner told host John Gambling, “Some of the activity is criminal in nature, some of it is a violation of conflict of interest [rules] and some of this is administrative violations. Some of it will result probably in criminal indictments.”
