Police Commissioner William J. Bratton restated his desire for an increase in the size of the NYPD last week, but spectators at a City Council shouted their opposition from the peanut gallery.
“No new cops,” chanted a handful of protesters in the audience for the March 12 hearing. It was the sixth and largest interruption of the proceedings by the protesters, and Public Safety Committee Chair Vanessa Gibson ordered the room cleared.
