Police arrested more than 50 college educators and their allies last week during a sit-in to protest an unsatisfactory economic offer by the City University of New York. The Nov. 4 rally was the latest and most-dramatic action by the Professional Staff Congress to highlight the fact that its 25,000 members have been working since 2010 under an expired contract and have gone six years without across-the-board raises.
