John L. Sampson, the former State Senate Minority Leader who is now serving a five-year prison term for obstructing justice and lying to the FBI, got a double whammy last week from a Federal appeals court.
First, the Second U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals rejected Mr. Sampson’s challenge to his conviction, which claimed errors by the court and prosecutors and argued that his sentence was too harsh.
