Israel Miranda, the president of the rank-and-file Emergency Medical Services union, said last week that the closing of TransCare, one of the city’s largest private ambulance companies, showed that the city should rely on FDNY ambulances as much as possible.
“We have to stop privatizing vital public services,” he said in an interview Feb. 26. “…When crime goes up, do you hire a private security firm to come in and bring down crime?”
