Allow ‘Domestic’ Victims To Get Order Via Skype

The state courts have announced a program under which domestic-violence victims seeking a temporary order of protection can go through the process on a Skype video-conference link rather than appearing in court.

The Remote Access Temporary Order of Protection Project is aimed at serving victims who are afraid to confront their accusers face-to-face in a courtroom or who face other hardships that would make it difficult for them to appear in court, said State Chief Judge Janet DiFiore. This is the first state­wide project in the country allowing victims to apply for an order remotely.
