An Auxiliary Deputy Inspector working out of Brooklyn’s 70th Precinct was charged in Federal court last week with hacking into NYPD computers and law-enforcement databases, including one maintained by the FBI, in order to find victims of traffic accidents whom he would offer to represent.
Yehuda Katz, 45, of Brooklyn “used his position as an auxiliary officer to hack into restricted computers and networks in order to obtain the personal information of thousands of citizens in a scheme to enrich himself through fraud,” said U.S. Attorney Loretta Lynch. Mr. Katz was arrested March 17 on the basis of a criminal complaint.
