As a judge considered a widow’s request that he block the release of a man who killed her police-officer husband 47 years ago, the Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association blasted Attorney General Eric Schneiderman’s office for arguing that she has no right to challenge the decision to grant him parole.
At a hearing in Albany April 13, State Supreme Court Justice Richard Koweek said he would rule soon on the lawsuit brought by Diane Piagentini, 74, who asked for a new hearing by a new Parole Board for Herman Bell, 70.
