The Administration for Children’s Services has doubled the number of staff members working at its Emergency Children’s Services after it saw a surge in emergency removals.
Typically, when ACS determines that a child is living in an at-risk home, it must bring the case to Family Court. But if ACS staffers believe a child is in immediate danger, they can perform an emergency removal, and a Judge can later decide whether the child should return home.
