New York City Transit is planning an examination for Car Inspector to inspect and repair subway cars. The application deadline is Jan. 27 and the fee is $68. Applicants who pass the exam and meet the education and experience standards may also be appointed to the position of Road Car Inspector.
The current minimum salary for Car Inspectors is $29.43 per hour for a 40-hour week, increasing to $34.62 in the sixth year. The current salary for Road Car Inspectors is $36.23 per hour for a 40-hour week. Benefits include night and weekend salary differentials, paid holidays, vacations, sick leave, a comprehensive medical plan and a pension plan.
