The state has openings for Correction Officer Trainees and Correction Officer Trainees (Spanish Language) at facilities around the state. The deadline for applying is Dec. 12 and the non-refundable application fee is $35.
The hiring rate is $40,590 per year, rising to $42,695 after six months. After completing the year-long training program, you will advance to Correction Officer, starting at $48,889. Appointees who work in New York City or in Nassau, Suffolk, Rockland or Westchester counties will receive an additional $3,026 annual downstate adjustment.
