A former Rikers Island inmate convicted of starting a fire in a solitary-confinement area was sentenced Oct. 15 to 25 years in prison, to be served after he completes his 40-year sentence for a Brooklyn murder.
Steven Sidbury, 26, of Brooklyn was sentenced in absentia by Bronx Supreme Court Justice Steven Barrett. Mr. Sidbury was also convicted in absentia at his jury trial, after being barred from the courtroom because he was disruptive.
