On Dec. 5 a group of Department of Citywide Administrative Services workers and FDNY Ladder 1 crew members were at the David Dinkins Municipal Building in the midst of their annual hanging of the large Christmas wreath in the building’s archway when at 10 a.m. a job came in for a working fire.
“They [the DCAS crew] were OK with it, but they didn’t have much choice,” Firefighter Rick Maida said in a phone interview. “In the middle, we had to take the bucket down and we told them we would be back.”
