Governor Cuomo signed a bill Aug. 20 creating a commission to investigate misconduct allegations involving District Attorneys and their assistants—even though the wording was flawed and the DAs planned to challenge it in court.
The 11-member State Commission on Prosecutorial Conduct will investigate such issues as wrongful convictions and allegations of malicious prosecution, Mr. Cuomo’s office said. The new law also gives the Governor authority to remove DAs at the recommendation of the state Court of Appeals, which will oversee the commission.
