Former CIA Director David Petraeus will come a lot cheaper to the City University of New York than expected after criticism of his $150,000 salary, which has been reduced to a symbolic $1, the university announced July 16.
The Professional Staff Congress and elected officials said their protests had paid off. Mr. Petraeus was initially hired at $200,000 to be a guest lecturer at CUNY’s Macaulay Honors College, according to information obtained by the website Gawker; CUNY later said his salary would be $150,000 per year.
